Do you need a copywriter in Ireland?
Running a business is hard. The day never stops at quitting time and there’s always a fire that needs to be put out. From my experience, the best way to relieve this stress and make things easier is by hiring specialised, freelance talent.
An expert not only puts out the fire, but they make sure everything’s set up to not go on fire again. On top of this, they create new opportunities for your business to grow and attract new audiences so that you can tell your story and sell your goods and services.
What does a copywriter do?
Nowadays, a copywriter needs to be multi-talented at multiple things. At the very least they need to be able to chop and change between different types of copy and the good ones are able to see how copy and content can impact a business. Here’s a brief rundown of what I think are the most important things a copywriter can do.
Your website is your shop front
A copywriter helps put your business on display. Your website is your shop front, so let’s make sure it looks exactly how you want it. This is done by finding out the tone of voice for your brand and making sure that your landing page reflects it so that your customers can create a connection.
Email marketing is booming
Email marketing is absolutely essential in Ireland. The ROI makes it a no-brainer, especially if you’re selling products. Email newsletters are designed around subject lines that make readers want to open and CTA’s that get clicks, but a good copywriter knows the ins and outs of email marketing and can build detailed and personal workflows that bring your customers on a journey and helps boost your conversion rate.
Announce your news with a press releases
You’ve got some exciting news that the world should know about and writing a press release is a great way of getting the news out there. Editors, influencers, and industry experts in Ireland get so, so, so many press releases a day. A press release needs to stand out from the crowd to get any attention. A brilliant press release strikes a balance between technical structure and engaging copy so the reader cares about the story and wants to share your great news.
My press release for ilk was picked up by Hypebeast and shared with its 3 million monthly visitors.
E-Commerce is on the up
Online sales in Ireland have skyrocketed – 44% of enterprises in Ireland have e-commerce sales in 2022 – and shows no signs of slowing down. Working with a copywriter in Ireland who has years of running an e-commerce business, you’ll improve your product pages, create content strategies, and have a much slicker customer journey.
Should Irish businesses have a blog?
Blogs are having a major comeback. They work on many different levels. Firstly there’s search. There’s a good chance you found this blog post on Google, proving that the right readers are out there for the right content if it’s packaged up correctly.
Secondly, brands are built on blogs through storytelling. Your customers want to know who you are, why you started the business, and the people that make it all work. Let’s tell your story.
And finally, blogs can be used as a resource with handy ‘how to’ guides, provide vital information, and delve deeper into complex topics proving that you are the authority on your subject.
My experience as a copywriter in Ireland
Working as a copywriter in Dublin for the award-winning marketing agency 256, I was able to work in many different industries across B2B and B2C. I mainly worked in the tourism sector and helped Fáilte Ireland navigate the pandemic with a suite of editorial content, content audits, and management of content production.
My time managing a marketing agency’s marketing
After this role, I moved into the B2B side of things and took over the marketing of the agency as a Content Marketing Manager. In this position, I got to see the bigger picture of how organisations work and how each piece of content is part of a bigger plan for business development. I worked alongside the CEO and senior management to help identify opportunities to achieve the business goals.
Running an Irish menswear brand
I was able to flex my creativity as Brand Manager of the Irish menswear brand ilk as I helped run the business on a day-to-day basis. This gave me a great opportunity to develop my e-commerce and email marketing skills. Here I took full control of all our email marketing, Shopify account, and social media from top to bottom.
Full-time experience freelance copywriter
Now that I’m an experienced full-time freelance copywriter in Ireland, I get to pool all my knowledge and skills together and offer a full-suite service to my clients that isn’t boxed into one particular focus area. I cover everything from launches of high-end mountain bikes, product descriptions for tour companies, editorial content for online magazines, and so much more.
The Irish Tone of Voice
Marketing in Ireland is unique because Irish people are unique. We can see through the bullshit very quickly and we appreciate being spoken to like people rather than targets/leads/prospects/bank accounts. That’s why I've found that a unique tone of voice needs to be used for the Irish market.
We’re happy for an informal tone to be used when talking about expensive products and services, we appreciate when brands and businesses are honest and direct, and we really hate when people use overly complicated words that actually mean nothing. I’m all about cutting out the fluff.
If you’re targetting Irish customers, work with a freelance copywriter who knows the Irish market.
Experience in the Irish business world
I run two businesses in Ireland, so I know what it’s like to market and sell to the Irish public.
I’ve navigated my way through LEO applications and have learned how to best apply the funding. I’ve also finished the New Frontiers course with Enterprise Ireland which supports start-ups in Ireland.
With my years of experience across the marketing landscape and in-depth knowledge of how the market works here in Ireland, I’m able to help you and your business take the next step forward.
Send me a message and let’s see what we can do.
